Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer from America, is known for her acclaimed performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, including an Oscar for her film Piano. The well-known actress began her career as an actor on the stage and has performed in numerous Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. Awed by acting since primary school years, she was Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. The actress was deaf in one ear as a result of mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actor. The college she attended was drama before moving from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her passions. Hunter made her Broadway debut after a chance meeting in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. In the years following her move to Los Angeles she tried to be a film actor and eventually landed one of them for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. She has appeared in countless movies, television shows and feature films throughout the course of her professional career. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won The Women in Film Lucy Award.
